BIOGRAPHY

Ronan Byrne represented Ireland alongside Philip Doyle in the men’s double sculls at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, finishing 10th overall.

The pair qualified for the Games by winning silver at the 2019 World Rowing Championships in Linz – Ireland’s first ever World Championship medal in a heavyweight men’s sweep boat. Byrne is from Ballinlough in Cork and started rowing aged 11 at Shandon Boat Club on the Marina, going on to compete with UCC Rowing Club.

He studied Nutritional Science at University College Cork.
