Denis E O’Sullivan

Sailing

BIOGRAPHY

Denis O’Sullivan travelled to the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games as a member of the Irish sailing squad, one of five sailors representing Ireland at a regatta held in the newly constructed Olympic Harbour on the Mediterranean coast of Barcelona.

The Irish sailing programme at Barcelona was one of the most ambitious in the country’s Olympic history, with entries across three classes: the Star keelboat, the Flying Dutchman and the Europe dinghy. O’Sullivan’s selection as part of that squad reflected his standing among the leading sailors in Ireland at the time.

Best known for racing Lasers and 505s (Two-Person High Performance Dinghies). O Sullivan is a prominent figure in Irish Sailing
