BIOGRAPHY

Peter O’Leary represented Ireland in the men’s Star class keelboat sailing at two Olympic Games – finishing 13th at Beijing 2008 alongside crew Stephen Milne, and 10th at London 2012 alongside David Burrows.

A native of Cork and a member of Royal Cork Yacht Club, O’Leary was one of the outstanding Star class sailors of his generation and the only Irishman to compete in the Star at two Olympics before the class was removed from the Olympic programme after 2012.

He won the 2009 Star Eastern European Championship with Stephen Milne and continued to compete at the highest international level in the Star class long after its Olympic days were over.
