BIOGRAPHY

Bertram made his Olympic debut in Tokyo with Pacino Amiro (also known as ‘Buddy’), and qualified for individual final where the pair finished 15th (8 faults and a time of 84:64). Bertram was the youngest ever winner of a Global Champions Grand Prix (Paris, 2015) and, with Romanov, took bronze at the World Cup final that year, climbing to fifth in the FEI world rankings. He underlined his quality once again in 2023 at the Global Champions Tour Super Grand Prix Playoffs in Prague (world’s top 16 riders) where he just missed bronze by fractions of a second in the jump-off.

Bertram was seventh individually at the 2014 World Equestrian Games, third at the World Cup Final in 2015, and a member of Ireland’s historic team gold at the 2017 Europeans and this partnership jumped a double clear to help a flawless Ireland win the final, pre-Olympic five-star Nations Cup in Aachen on July 4. He has been based in Hunxe in Germany since 2011 where, assisted by sister April and brother Harry, he runs Ballywalter Stables.
