BIOGRAPHY
Judy Reynolds represented Ireland in dressage at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, where she finished 18th in the individual competition riding Vancouver K – a Jazz gelding owned by her parents, Joe and Kathleen Reynolds.
She also qualified for the Grand Prix Kür (freestyle) final at Rio, becoming the first Irish woman to reach an Olympic dressage final. Reynolds grew up in Kildare and, having won every major dressage competition in Ireland by her early twenties, relocated to Germany in 2002 to compete at a higher level. She has been based there since. At the 2019 European Championships in Rotterdam, Reynolds delivered the decisive performance that secured Ireland’s first ever team qualification for the Olympic Games in dressage, scoring a new Irish Grand Prix record of 76.351% to move the team from fourth into second place in the qualifying standings.
She has competed at four World Equestrian Games and four European Championships, with her best individual championship results coming in 2019, when she placed fifth in both the Special and Freestyle. She was named Irish Dressage Rider of the Year in 2008, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018. Her father Joe Reynolds served as chairman of Horse Sport Ireland.
