BIOGRAPHY

Niall Griffin represented Ireland in the individual and team eventing at two Olympic Games – Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008.

At Athens, in a personal coincidence that added to the occasion, he was selected to carry the Irish flag at the opening ceremony just 24 hours after his 27th birthday. At Beijing – where the equestrian events were held at the Hong Kong Sports Institute – he rode Lorgaine to 38th individually while helping the Irish team finish 8th overall alongside Patricia Ryan, Geoff Curran, Louise Lyons and Austin O’Connor.
