BIOGRAPHY

Eamonn McKeon competed in the men’s boxing at the 1960 Rome Olympic Games, winning his opening bout with a comfortable unanimous decision over his Tunisian opponent before losing in his second contest.

McKeon was one of two Garda Club boxers on the Irish team at Rome and was among those who faced the late-night scheduling at the Palazzo della Sport, where bouts took place after midnight.

He was one of several Irish boxers to advance to the second round at those Games.
