John McNally won the silver medal in boxing at the Helsinki 1952 Olympic Games in the bantamweight division.

McNally was from Belfast and developed his boxing career through the Irish amateur boxing system with the Holy Family Boxing Club.

He was Ireland’s first Olympic boxing medalist.
