BIOGRAPHY

Roisin McGettigan from Inbhear Dee AC in Wicklow Town, specialised in the 3000 metres steeplechase.

She was a 4 x All American while at Providence College and coached by Ray Treacy. She competed in her first Olympic Games in 2008 in Beijing. After finishing second in her qualifying heat in the 3000 m steeplechase, she finished 14th in the final.

In 2014, McGettigan was retroactively awarded the bronze medal for the 2009 European Athletics Indoor Championships 1500 metres race.

Among her achievements is the Irish Indoor Mile Record 2009, 2nd in the IAAF Grand Prix final in 2007, 10th place in the World Track and Field Championships, Osaka 2007 and 9th place in the IAAF Grand Prix final in 2005.
