BIOGRAPHY

Aileen Convery competed in the women’s 100 metres backstroke and 200 metres backstroke at the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games, finishing 29th and 18th respectively.

Convery competed for West Virginia University and was an All-American in 1989 and 1990 and a multi-time Academic All-American during her university career. During her junior season, Convery placed first at Easterns in the 100-yard backstroke and won the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:03.35, earning All-America honors in the 200 backstroke for the second consecutive year.

Prior to her selection for the Seoul Olympic Games, Convery held three Irish senior records in the 100 back, 200 back and individual medley.
