BIOGRAPHY

Deirdre Sheehan competed in the swimming pool at the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games, finishing in the bottom third of her competition. The IASA had set exacting target times for Montreal but the Irish swimmer was unable to reproduce her domestic form in the face of serious international competition. Team manager Larry Williamson identified insufficient international experience, and lack of exposure to a 50-metre pool environment as the primary factors in the less than expected performance.
