BIOGRAPHY

Béibhinn Parsons represented Ireland in the women’s Rugby Sevens tournament at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, where Ireland finished 8th – the first time an Irish women’s rugby sevens team had competed at the Olympics.

Parsons suffered a broken fibula during Ireland’s quarter-final defeat to Australia and did not complete the tournament. She began playing rugby with Ballinasloe RFC on a mixed under-11 team before a girls’ team was established at the club.

In 2018, aged 16, she became the youngest player, male or female, ever to represent Ireland at senior rugby level, earning her first cap as a replacement in the autumn internationals. She attended Ardscoil Mhuire in Ballinasloe and led her school to the All-Ireland girls’ Sevens title in 2018. She plays wing for Blackrock College RFC and Connacht, and represents Ireland in both sevens and fifteens. She won the Guinness Rugby Writers of Ireland Player of the Year Award in 2020.

Her cousin is Mayo GAA footballer Tom Parsons.
