BIOGRAPHY
Niall Comerford represented Ireland in the men’s Rugby Sevens tournament at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, where Ireland finished 6th – four places better than their debut 10th place finish at Tokyo 2020.
Comerford grew up in Shankill, Co. Dublin and played hurling and Gaelic football with Kilmacud Crokes in his youth before taking up rugby in his first year at Blackrock College, where he won a Junior Cup. He was recruited to the Leinster Academy and made his Ireland Sevens debut in Vancouver in 2021. He was an Ad Astra scholar at University College Dublin, where he studied commerce, and worked as a tax expert before taking a career break to train full-time ahead of the Paris Games. He had accumulated 123 World Series appearances by the time of the Olympics.
Since the Paris Games he has also represented Leinster in the United Rugby Championship.
