Rugby Sevens
BIOGRAPHY
Vicky Elmes Kinlan represented Ireland in the women’s Rugby Sevens tournament at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, where Ireland made their historic debut in the event and finished 8th.
From Rathnew, Co. Wicklow, and a player with Wicklow RFC, Elmes Kinlan was one of the youngest members of Team Ireland at the Games, aged 21. She was drafted into the senior Sevens squad after catching the eye in the U18 interprovincial series as a powerful tackler and ball carrier, with captain Lucy Rock describing her as one of the best tacklers she had ever seen.
She made her World Series debut in Langford, Canada in April 2022 and had accumulated 62 appearances and 60 points on the circuit by the time of the Games. She was part of the squad that won Ireland’s first ever SVNS Series title in Perth in January 2024. She subsequently made her Ireland XVs debut against Australia in September 2024, adding a fifteens career to her sevens achievements.
