Terry Kennedy
Rugby Sevens
BIOGRAPHY
Terry Kennedy represented Ireland in Rugby Sevens at the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Ireland finished 10th in Tokyo and sixth in Paris. Kennedy was one of the founding members of the Ireland Sevens programme, making his debut in Zagreb in 2015 when the squad began at European competition level. He went on to become one of the most decorated players in the history of the programme. In 2022, he was named World Rugby Men’s Sevens Player of the Year – the first Ireland Sevens player to receive that honour – after finishing as the World Series top try scorer and helping Ireland claim bronze at the Rugby World Cup Sevens in Cape Town.
Kennedy’s father, also named Terry, was a winger who earned 13 caps for Ireland between 1978 and 1981.
