BIOGRAPHY

Sean Cribbin represented Ireland in the men’s Rugby Sevens tournament at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, where Ireland finished 6th.

Named initially as a travelling reserve, he entered the squad on the final day of the tournament when injuries struck, starting the fifth-place semi-final against the USA and appearing as a replacement in the fifth-place play-off against New Zealand.

Cribbin is from Howth, Co. Dublin and plays for Suttonians RFC. He attended St Fintan’s High School in Sutton, where he captained the school’s first ever Leinster Schools Senior Cup final appearance in 2017. He has been involved with the Ireland Sevens programme since 2017, making his debut at the Dubai Sevens that December. He was part of the squad that qualified Ireland for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics but was not selected in the final squad for those Games.

He played in the 2023 European Games in Kraków, featuring in the final against Great Britain as Ireland won gold and secured Olympic qualification for Paris. He accumulated more than 100 World Series appearances across his career. He holds a BA in Business Administration and worked in talent acquisition and analysis with construction consultancy Linesight.
