Eve Higgins
Rugby Sevens
BIOGRAPHY
Eve Higgins represented Ireland in the women’s Rugby Sevens tournament at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, where Ireland finished 8th – the first time an Irish women’s rugby sevens team had competed at the Olympics.
Higgins began playing rugby at the age of eight at Barnhall RFC in Leixlip, playing with boys’ teams until Under-13 level. With no girls’ team at the club, her father contacted clubs around Dublin and she joined Railway Union, for whom she continued to play. First brought into the Irish Sevens and 15s squads at 16, she was awarded her first full-time senior Sevens contract at 18 and made her senior debut at the Dubai 7s in 2018.
A dual international across Sevens and 15s, she also made her Six Nations debut in 2021. She holds a degree in history and sociology and was pursuing a Masters in criminology at the time of the Games. She is from Kilcock, Co. Kildare.
