BIOGRAPHY

Margaret Tollerton competed in the individual and team three-day eventing at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games, riding Ipi Tombi, before her horse was forced to withdraw through illness during the endurance phase – adding to the difficulties of an Irish team that finished 11th overall.

The illness of Ipi Tombi during the cross-country added pressure on the remaining riders, particularly David Foster who was the last Irish rider on the course. The competition was held at two venues almost 100 miles apart, requiring lengthy daily journeys for athletes and horses.
