William ‘Bill’ Buller

Equestrian

BIOGRAPHY

Bill Buller competed in the individual and team three-day eventing at the 1972 Munich Olympic Games, riding Benka to finish 22nd individually – the best individual result among the Irish eventing riders who completed the competition.

From Scarva, Co. Down, Buller was the biggest mover of the day on the cross-country course, climbing from 65th after the dressage phase all the way to 21st – a remarkable recovery. Three fences down in the showjumping pushed him back to 22nd overall.

He went on to compete again at the Los Angeles 1984 Olympics.
