William ‘Bill’ Mullins

Equestrian

BIOGRAPHY

Bill Mullins competed in the show jumping at the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games as a member of the Irish equestrian team. The Melbourne equestrian events were uniquely held in Stockholm, Sweden in June 1956 – months before the main Games in Melbourne in November – due to Australian quarantine restrictions on horses.

Ireland’s show jumping team at those Games competed in the individual Grand Prix and the Nations’ Cup competition at the Stockholm Olympic Stadium.

Bill Mullins passed away on 27 December 2015 at the age of 95.
