BIOGRAPHY

Melanie Duff competed in the individual and team three-day eventing at the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games, riding Rathlin Roe, and performed what as the best dressage test of the Irish team – ranked 23rd after the dressage phase.

The Irish team of Duff, Olivia Holohan, Máiread Curran and Eric Smiley finished 8th overall. The team adopted a conservative tactical approach on the cross-country phase on the advice of Chef d’Equipe Ronnie MacMahon, accumulating significant time penalties but completing safely in conditions where horse welfare was a particular concern.
