BIOGRAPHY
Billy Dardis captained Ireland at their first-ever Olympic appearance in the sport at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, where the team finished 10th.
Dardis played as a scrum-half in rugby sevens and previously represented Ireland at under-20 level before moving into the national sevens programme in 2015.
He became captain of the Ireland men’s sevens team in 2017 and led the side through a transformative period that included qualification for the Rugby World Cup Sevens and the World Rugby Sevens Series as a core team.
He is the vice-chair of the Olympic Federation of Ireland Athletes’ Commission, representing athlete interests across the Olympic movement in Ireland.
