BIOGRAPHY
Kyle Marshall represented Ireland in the men’s hockey tournament at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
A key defender from Markethill, Co. Armagh, Marshall attended Banbridge Academy and began his club career with Banbridge HC before moving to England, where he played for Beeston HC for four years before joining Old Georgians. His international career took an unusual path: between 2017 and 2019 he represented Ireland, England and Great Britain at under-21 level, winning silver with Ireland at the 2019 EuroHockey U21 Championship in Valencia, before a spell representing England.
He switched allegiance back to Ireland in 2021 and made his senior international debut that year. He received his 50th cap in June 2024, just weeks before the Paris Games. His preparation was complicated by a broken thumb suffered in the final Olympic qualifying match in January 2024, which sidelined him for three months. He holds a degree in financial mathematics and works as a data analyst. Since the Paris Olympics he has taken on the Ireland captaincy.
