BIOGRAPHY
Michael Robson represented Ireland in the men’s hockey tournament at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
A central midfielder from Holywood, Co. Down, Robson made his senior international debut in 2014 and had accumulated 162 caps by the time of the Games. He was a travelling reserve for the Rio 2016 Olympics – when Ireland made their first ever men’s hockey Olympic appearance – and was one of only three players from that squad still involved in the programme in 2024.
He played professionally in Germany with CHTC Hamburg from 2017 until the Covid-19 pandemic intervened, with his younger brother Callum, who also plays for Ireland, alongside him. He studied finance at Queen’s University Belfast, qualifying as an accountant, but put his career on hold to play professionally. He returned to Annadale HC in 2021. He won EuroHockey Championship II gold in Dublin in 2023, FIH Series Finals silver in 2019, and bronze at the EuroHockey Championships in both 2015 and 2021.
