BIOGRAPHY
Hannah McLoughlin represented Ireland in the women’s hockey tournament at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, where Ireland finished 10th.
A defender and penalty corner specialist, McLoughlin began her hockey career with Avoca in Blackrock before moving to Loreto, with whom she won the EY Champions Trophy. She made her senior international debut in 2018, aged 18. The postponement of the Tokyo Games by a year worked in her favour, allowing her to develop into a key figure in the squad – she was one of four players making their debut at an international ranking event at the EuroHockey Championships in June 2021 and was a standout performer at Tokyo.
She continued to represent Ireland after Tokyo, and was prominent in the squad that narrowly missed qualification for the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she scored a crucial penalty corner in the closing moments of the third-place playoff against Great Britain in Valencia.
